Can't find information anywhere about the composition (what materials they're made from). Also would like to know why they supposedly work so well.

I bought one of these a few months ago at a gourmet kitchen store. The owner raved about it so I took one home. I love it! I have no idea what they are made of either, but they work so well. I don't need to use SOS or scouring pads anymore. These are amazing! I bought this package of them on Amazon and gave a few out with Christmas presents. Might seem like a strange gift but people like useful things. I kept three more of these for myself. The one I bought about three months ago is still going strong. The gourmet shop owner has had hers for six months now and she said hers is still fine. I throw mine in the dishwasher when it needs a cleaning. If you ever find out what they are made of let me know! They really do work wonderfully!

Can these be washed in the washing machine?

Yes they can! I recommend placing them in a mesh bag since that are abrasive and could stick to other laundry. Another option is to wash them in the dishwasher.

How do these work on copper cookware? I’m tired of playing guessing games with steel wool pads.

Hello, I have not used these on copper but I have used them on the Greenspan’s and also tephlon. They do not scratch them at all. The crazy thing is the exterior metal side can be scrubbed and old gunk removed, yet for the inside it is extremely gentle. I have used it on my glassware and zero scratches. I have one just for house cleaning and they scrub the counters, tubs, sinks and floors as well. Love these scrubbies :-)
