Do you have to take the light off the wall to recharge it

If the light is installed with the charging port in an accessible location, it can be charged on the wall. An extra-long USB cable, or extension cord would also be required.

How does the timer work on these? Is it something you can set daily or is it only a countdown?

I don't think that rechargeable batteries are made to be replaced. They are made so they can be recharged by plugging them into the circuit in your home. I recharge mine about once a week.
