Metal and Tempered Glass Open Enclosure with Drag Chain and Filter Fan for Sovol SV08

Honestly I kinda think this is a mandatory SV08 purchase, it was easy enough to install and the tempered glass is very nice (one of the door magnets came off but it’s not a huge deal to me). Definitely does its job, I added some insulation to the inside of mine and while there’s a little rubbing I can reach 40C with just the bed heater.

This appears to be easy to install but the door hinges are a little confusing if your mechanically inclined. Just put the top hinges on the backside and it will make more sense. Once I figured that part out it was easy to install. This helped a ton with noise and also keeping heat in the chamber. Was skeptical after reading some of the reviews but have printed several ABS prints and temp was steady at 55 inside with just the bed heater heating the chamber.

I like this enclosure a lot. It fits well the printer well and seems to be made with quality materials. It is a little expensive, but I liked that it's a complete kit and has glass doors and top. Overall installation was pretty straight forward. The cable chain is the only thing that I think could use some improvements. Some of the 3D printed parts broke easily. But there are solutions for this online.

Update: Finally received the missing screws from my kit, after it is all put together the enclosure looks nice, so I bumped up my review score slightly. If the printed chain parts were done properly this would have been a nice 4 star purchase. Hopefully my review will help someone with the decision, after all said and done I do believe this is a worth while upgrade to the Sv08. Well this kit has a few shortcomings, I love the Sv08 and would highly recommend it but the official enclosure has issues. 1) The included drag chain connections, they were 3d printed in brittle Pla and look to be only 2 wall and less than 10% infill. No QC was preformed on these parts imo, so I reached out to the seller and sovol provided a file to print my own. Again not the best solution but eh whatever it's fixed so let's move on. 2) Holes in my sv08 for bottom door catch were too small, needed to drill and tap them to fit. Then after that was done realized I was missing the needed countersunk screws to install the door catches and hinges so I have a half completed enclosure until I hear back from seller again. 3) Color of panels do not match the printer, took several photos to show this in different light and hopefully you can see what I am seeing. It looks very mismatched for a not so cheap product paint color codes should be same. 4) Top glass panels do not have a hinge, this is a minor issue but one change that I would recommend to sovol. Now that the issues are out of the way, some of the positives are the glass very nice quality, paint finish on the panels is 100% covered (no missed or chipped spots) and holds up to minor scratches well. Assembly is very straight forward and overall good design of printer but to get full functionality I'd recommend printing a riser.

For a big machine like this, if you have drafty environments or a chance of temperature swings, depending on the location of the printer, this is definitely something I would suggest. I've been spoiled by having a second printer that's fully enclosed, and that controlled environment has been a must for me now.

The glass and metal plates fit well and look good, but the kit itself is half baked. Like someone else mentioned, the included printed parts are very poor quality with something like 10% infill and they will break either on install or shortly after. The quality of these parts are also like early 2000s print quality, which I don't even know how you manage when your own printer that you are selling can actually produce better quality than that. But even if these cable chain mounts didn't break, the mounts create a cable management problem that didn't exist before. You are really better off just leaving the cable chain off, even though this could cause the main data cable to coil at the bottom and possibly hit the head on max X moves. In general the Soval SV08 struggles with its extruder cable management compared to other printers, it really needs a redesign. But aside from that, the user manual is pretty bad and I had the same missing screws that someone else on here reported. You can switch screws and use socket head where tapered was called out in a few places to get the missing screw problem to work out without having to order screws, but WTF Soval?

The core of this kit—the metal and glass components—is excellent. Installed on the SV08, it truly transforms the printer into an absolute workhorse. With proper hot end cooling, ASA, PA, and PC prints come out fantastic, and the enclosure makes high-temp material workflows far more practical. From a performance standpoint, the foundation is solid. Unfortunately, the execution of the accessory parts brings this kit down significantly. Many of the included accessories are 3D printed in PLA with low wall thickness and low infill. For an enclosure specifically intended for high-temperature materials and heated beds, PLA is simply not an acceptable choice. These components fail quickly, and it is frankly surprising to see a 3D printing company supplying critical accessories in such a way for their own printer ecosystem. The end result is that customers will likely need to reprint or replace parts before installation in order to achieve the reliability this kit deserves. This decision undermines what could otherwise be a fantastic, professional-grade product. In short: the core kit is outstanding, but the accessories are a serious weak point. If you are prepared to print or source your own replacements, this can still be a worthwhile upgrade. Otherwise, expect frustration with premature accessory failures.

great quality and it makes the printer look super nice. the only complaint i have is it should have better seals for the glass but over all still easy 5 star for me

Excellent quality OEM enclosure. Yes, there are other cheaper options but this one fits perfectly. By the time I sourced out other DIY options for enclosures the difference wasn't much and my time is valuable so this was a perfect choice for me. I modified the exhaust and put a much larger and thicker filter for printing ABS although I nexver really did try the original one that came with it... because I could print a bigger one! Very happy with it but it is a premium product but offers a premium solution.

It came with everthing needed to assemble including the exhaust fan and, was a breeze to assemble.

Despite the 4/5 rating I truly love this printer. That being said I had to do a lot of tweaking and a few mods to get it running to my spec but even out of the box it was a very capable machine. It lacks a little polish in the software department. The locked down version of Klipper is good, but limiting to upgrading components. Their slicer profile is good but benefits from tuning. I haven’t switched to mainline Klipper yet but likely will someday. I recommend this printer for anyone with a little experience tinkering on printers overall. It can work out for someone brand new to the hobby but don’t expect a clock and print experience like some of the more premium machines out there. You will benefit from learning about how to tune and maintain printers. I added the enclosure and some upgrades but don’t be fooled right out of the box this printer is SOLID and prints very well and fast. Super duper value for your money if you snag it on sale but even not. Quick easy setup, nice big build volume, and Sovol support have been excellent. I had to change the motherboard but they sent one to me on warranty quickly. I was still able to print while waiting for it to be delivered from China.

I love the sv08 but... the enclosure is unacceptable. The metal and glass parts are excellent, but the kit comes with 3d printed parts that are terrible. I had to reprint all of them as they all broke on install. I was willing to look past that since I could reprint those. However, as I continued to install the enclosure I was missing 3 of the m3x6 countersunk screws and had to buy more. I am still waiting fore those and I am now anticipating needing to purchase more hardware. I forsee once I correct all of the problems the enclosure will be just fine, but it is not an acceptable product out of the box.
