Artemis: Virgin Goddess of the Sun and Moon

I enjoyed delving into the myths of Artemis. This is very well researched and the information is conveyed in a well organised manner, allowing the reader to skip between passages easily. I enjoyed the connections made between earlier deities of earlier religions.

The book itself is an interesting read and I would like to read more of Sorita's work. Definitely has stars from me but I can also see why some people would find it hard to read (as expected lots of ancient Greek names).

Very informative and answered all the questions I had on Artemis and some more. Occasionally feels repetitive but other than that it's awesome

A none biased informative work on the goddess, I liked it so much that I purchased the psychical book for reference.

You don't have to be a virgin priestess of ancient Greece to appreciate and love this book. If you have a love of ancient culture or the history of greek religion, this book will take a pride of place on your bookshelf. If you are a modern pagan priestess, like I myself am, you will appreciate this book for the rich folklore, mythology and information which it provides on this much loved Greek Goddess of the Hunt and of the Moon. The book brings together a collection of well researched information and mythology in a concise, academic and easy to understand and use format. The illustrations add an extra dimension as they are based on ancient portrayals, but done by a new emerging artist who is working with this author. (Andrews also illustrated the book THE GUISES OF THE MORRIGAN which is by Sorita D'Este with author David Rankine). If you are a pagan who work with the Greek pantheon's Gods and Goddesses you will do well to ensure that you obtain a copy of this book and read it cover to cover. You will find yourself using it time and time again as your love and understanding of this diverse Goddess grows. It explores the relationships of Artemis with the other Greek Gods and Goddesses, her association with a wide variety of animals and other beasts and well as giving precise accounts (with footnotes giving sources) of the various myths in which she played a leading role. Great and highly recommended volume.

Put together in one book is all the ways she has been known, worshipped and stories told about Artemis. It is a wonderful reference book for all things Artemis. Well written and organized.

I loved this, very informative. So much information on Artemis. I have many of Sorita's books especially of Hekate. I definitely suggest having this book or Kindle.

For worshipers that wish to go beyond the tripe about Artemis offered in most modern Pagan publishing, this books presents a sound historical perspective on the goddess. She is much more than a goddess of the hunt and a goddess of the moon, and knowing that can allowing for a deeper, more authentic relationship. For true dedicants, or those wishing to become dedicants of Artemis, this book is a must have.

Sorita is one of my favourite modern Pagan authors. I was so pleased to find this book she'd written about Artemis.
