Faithfull Aluminium Rule 1 Metre (39 Inch) – Aluminium Marking & Measuring Ruler with Dual Metric & Imperial Graduations, Conversion Chart & Hanging Hole

I had been intending to purchase a long steel rule for quite some time; but more often than not they were either too short, too expensive or of questionable quality. I have tape measures and rules of various sizes, but when I need to make a long mark I tend to use either a long piece of wood or a 900mm spirit level; neither these is an ideal solution. Having found the Faithfull Aluminium 1m/39 inch Rule on Amazon and seen it's positive reviews I thought I'd give it a go. To start with I have purchased from the 'Faithfull' brand previously and have been impressed with the quality, they appear to be reliable and offer products at competitive prices. Anyway, the rule itself is anodised aluminium (meaning it has been coated with a protective oxide film by the process of electrolysis) rather than steel and this is a definite advantage; firstly because of it's relatively light weight (381g), it's a fairly large piece of kit and just wouldn't be practical in any other type of metal, and secondly it won't rust! The rule is actually 1 metre and 30mm in overall length; with the top 30mm being an unmarked section except for a hanging hole of 10mm in diameter. The rule is 50mm wide and 1mm thick; this is quite a deceptive thickness, on paper it perhaps doesn't sound sufficient, but in reality it most definitely is! The markings are metric one side and imperial the other, indicated by an embossed print; the back of the rule has a metric to imperial conversion chart which is a handy feature. The metric edge is the best edge for marking onto a surface with an ink, it is half the thickness of the main rule and thus enables the marking to be made on a surface without full contact of the rule itself (thus reducing the chances of smudging). The RRP on Amazon at the time of this review is £8.64 and I feel this constitutes good value, but as is often the case with Amazon the price is reduced further and in my case I purchased it for £6.84 (including free Super Saver Delivery, direct from them), this represents excellent value for a product of this type and quality. Overall, I am most pleased this purchase; it is exactly what I wanted and at a price that will be difficult to beat!

Arrived bent - packaging not robust enough to resist mail handling. Item itself looks beautiful but will not lie flat on my fabric because of this damage which is disappointing as I have been longing for a ruler like this that can handle large pieces of fabric while being well enough made to be safe on delicate fabric, and suitable for couture work. This not so much the fault of the meter ruler itself which is excellent quality, but the method of packaging, which has left me disappointed. Such a pity.

You just cant beat a PROPER straight edge!. So many times Ive been rooting through the house and shed trying to find something to use as a straight-edge...be it a piece of timber or metal, which inevitably are not "exactly" straight. This rule is wonderful!...so easy to read but more importantly very sturdy and VERY straight yet light weight :). Great price, great product!, super happy with MY purchase

Because I'm cheap and didn't want to pay full whack for a straight edge for my bass guitar's neck, after seeing a video on DIY luthier tools on YouTube, I decided to have a bash at it myself using this ruler. The ruler itself is sturdy enough and mine was delivered without any bending, but when it comes to being customised and used as a luthier tool, it's okay. As I own basses of different scales, I intended on using both sides of the ruler for different basses, but the thicker side of the ruler proved difficult to route out the fret notches. But, if you're using it for its specific purpose, it's a worthy purchase. If you intend on being a cheap bastard and using it for multiple guitar or bass necks, best stick to the correct tools.

Sturdiness, sharpness, clarity, Value for money, Straightness, Bendability, bought for drawing on fabric with 1 metre length for drawing out shorts, came quickly I ordered 1 and got 2 aluminium ruler has got a hole in the end to hang it up, and has got a conversion table on the other side and the front side has got inches and cms has got a slope where the cms are the numbers are nice and clear, and it will bend a little nice smooth edge's and the edges are very straight, and not very heavy nice and wide. I will recommend this to anyone who does sewing or woodworking or draws plans for building of houses great price on Amazon. The item description is good but could do with a closer photo of the ruler with the cms and the inches side.

I bought this for sewing, I didn't expect much cause of how cheap it was. Omg I was wrong it's wonderful. One edge is thinner, one is thicker, there's a conversiom chat on the back. It's very strong but still a bit flexible, the markings are well done and I can't see them ever coming off. I highly recommend buying, such as great product at a great price!

Bought for alignment practicing golf and is perfect for that. Good as a ruler too.
