Zinus 14 Inch Green Tea Cooling Gel Memory Foam Hybrid Mattress / Pocket Innersprings for Motion Isolation, Queen

After 15 years, my memory foam mattress and its box spring were more than at the end of their lives and needed to be replaced. Buying a mattress is a very personal and expensive decision and with so many mattresses on the market of which most you can't see or tryout physically because they are sold exclusively online, it is very difficult to determine which one is right for you -- and if you have a sleeping partner, it makes it even more difficult to find one that will work for both. My husband has had both a hip replacement and lower back fusion surgeries and needless to say he is very suspicious of the mattress-in-a-box concept and was skeptical of all of the best options I found online. To complicate matters, his back situation makes it difficult for him to go to a local mattress store to try out options there, so it took us FOREVER to come to an agreement about what mattress to buy and where. I gave up after a month of off-and-on searching but then it happened -- a particularly sleepless night on our old mattress with extreme back pain in the morning. That was the final straw. That nite forced us to get it in gear and make a final decision. We decided to try Zinus for three reasons: 1) the reviews online overall were great; 2) the company sold a sturdy platform foundation we could purchase separately so no box spring was needed; and, 3) the price for the mattress was incredibly reasonable for the options and features included. I have to say that we were still pretty skeptical about ordering a mattress online but figured if it turned out to be a big disappointment, we weren't out that much cash (and neither of us could fathom how we'd ever get a big queen-sized mattress back into a small box for a return!) Our Zinus hybrid mattress took about a week to get here, but came as advertised. I will say that the outer box was really beat up and broken, but no damage to the packaging around the mattress itself, thank goodness! I set up the SmartBase foundation unit myself (really easy and fast) and managed to get the mattress onto the base with a little maneuvering (it was pretty heavy - you should have seen me struggling to get it up the stairs to the bedroom!) I unpacked it according to the directions and almost immediately it opened up to the 14" height. Since the initial "roll out" I have not seen/felt any dips or collapsed spots as another reviewer experienced. All of this is very good and well but the real test is the sleep test. I NEVER look forward to having a new mattress because it always takes me at least a week of sleepless nights to break in one. In fact, I had readied the guest bedroom in anticipation of having to transfer over in case I found myself tossing and turning a night or two while getting use to the new Zinus. You know all of those reviews you've read about people claiming to wake up from the best sleep they've ever had or with no back pain whatsoever? Well, that has never been my experience, at least not for the first week of the breaking-in stage. Until now. Wow. This bed is fantastic! I am a back sleeper generally. This mattress provides complete support of my lower back as well as all other areas. No transfer of motion, no squeaks, and very easy to change positions, unlike some memory foam mattresses where you sink in and good luck getting out of the indentation you've made. The first night and every night has been a sound sleep experience for me. And yes, for the first time in forever, I get up and out with no back pain. (Thought I would never say that!) My husband with all of his back issues has said that his sleep has improved and while he will likely never be pain free in the morning, this mattress has drastically improved his sleep experience. I was concerned about some of the reviews stating that this particular Zinus mattress model we had ordered was too firm. However, I'm finding it to be just the right amount of support and comfort. I will update my review if I'm finding that the mattress is not performing as expected, but so far I am satisfied completely with my purchase. This experience has not taken the anxiety out of purchasing a mattress online for me totally, but I feel fortunate this purchase worked out well.

I've only slept on this mattress for two nights and I'm already in love with it. I have bad lower back pain from arthritis and degenerative disc disease so I need a fairly firm mattress to support my back. I originally purchased a Saatva mattress (for $1900!) but found it to feel a bit lumpy and it began to sink in the middle after only a few months. My sister has had this mattress for 2.5 years and still loves it so I figured I'd give it a shot. At first I was worried that it would be too soft, as the foam feels very cushy to my hand. As soon as I laid on it I knew I was wrong - it's firm enough to support my back but the foam is comfortable to sleep on. I don't get any pressure on my hips or shoulders when I lay down, but I also don't sink into the mattress. I woke up after the first night with barely any back pain, it felt like a miracle. I do recommend making sure you get the right support for the mattress - I added the Zinus slats on top of my box spring to be sure the foam hybrid is properly supported. I only kept the box spring to keep my mattress from being too low. Having said that, the mattress is THICK and I kind of struggle to get up on the bed with my full-sized box spring! If you want some height above your bedframe, you'd really only need to get one of those modern more thin box springs to add a few inches. A really solid surface for the mattress is the most important thing so the foam doesn't sag. I know some people have referenced the smell of a foam mattress - I opened the mattress and let it lay flat (without the plastic) for 2 days before I slept on it so that it could fully inflate and any odor could dissipate. I haven't noticed any smell since sleeping on it. I'll try to remember to update in a few months, but so far I am in love with this mattress and strongly recommend it, especially for anyone struggling with back pain. You can't beat the price and the quality.

We had high hopes for this Zinus mattress. Let me start by sharing we have purchased both frames and mattresses before (all from Amazon) and love the Zinus brand. The frames are durable and mattresses comfortable, so when my husband and I decided to replace our king mattress, I plowed through reviews for just about every mattress using "firm" in my search. This one is listed as medium-firm and the price reasonable, so we decided to take a chance. So hard to purchase without trying out, but it seems the "bed in a bag" is the way of the future. With Amazon Prime, I took the gamble. The 2 fabulous Amazon delivery folks had a great sense of humor...I called this the "marriage wrecker," as they delivered to our home & brought up to the second floor. They opened the plastic, and the mattress did its thing...expanding right away. It does have handles on the outside of the mattress to help adjust on the bed or moving after it is expanded. I left for work, allowing it to complete its expansion. Upon return, decided to give it a try. When lying on it, it feels soft & cool, even with bedding on it. No odor from being sealed. We purchased the 14-inch, and it is every bit of 14 inches fully expanded. The dog loved it, my son loved it, but for us (overweight, old backs), it is too soft. We gave it a second night thinking maybe with more time to expand, it would become firmer. Unfortunately, it is just too soft. I even found myself searching for something we could place on top but quickly realized, though high quality, we should return it. Thank goodness for Amazon Prime for making this an easy transaction. We are keeping the Zinus frame, donating the mattress, and the search continues for an “extra firm” mattress. Hesitant to take away "stars" because the mattress is well made and the overall experience a success, but just not going to work for us.

I'm a mom of 7 kids so we have been through a few mattresses. I first bought a zinus cloud for my son and it was amazing. Eventually I purchased several as well as the green tea mattress for a couple of my kids who like things a bit more firm - all are incredible mattresses. My 5 year old has the Zinus cloud so I have spend a lot of time laying on it and vowed that someday - when I replaced my Bed-in-a-box mattress it would be with a Zinus cloud. Recently we bought an RV and wanted to replace the mattress but alas, there were no Zinus cloud mattresses available in queen at that time and the other mattresses are too firm for me. I decided to try a different brand which did not work out. The other brand is a quality mattress also, but too firm and gave me horrific backpain. I thought I maybe needed to just sleep on it several times to adapt. When I had chosen the other brand, I chose the hybrid mattress because I am older, have much body pain, fibromyalgia, etc. My bed-in-a-box mattress in my home was great for many years but my pain has steadily increased the last two years and I was finding it difficult to roll over in. I read that a hybrid mattress would give the soft memory foam feel but would be more supportive. Hence the choice for a hybrid mattress for the RV. A few weeks after I purchased a mattress for the RV I got sick and tired of being in pain and decided it was time to replace my bed-in-a-box mattress. Incredibly, the Zinus products that had been sold out were available again and so I purchased a King size. It is heaven. I feel comfortable again and I am not waking up all night and I can even sleep in a bit now (before I had to get out of bed by 6 because of pain). This is the BEST mattress ever. I just purchased a queen size today for the RV and will be getting rid of the other brand I purchased. It is the perfect combination of plushy soft and full support. Good job Zinus!!

This mattress has absolutely no side support! If you sleep anywhere near the side, you will end up on the floor. Disappointed as this is my second Zinus, but this new mattress isn’t anywhere close to as good as my old one. Will likely be returning and going with a different brand. Quality has clearly gone down over time.

I've been sleeping on this thing for 2 months and can't decide if I love it or not. It's firm, which is good for my back. It has a bit of bounce to it (which is good for other things...), but not enough that my partner wakes me up at night. It's just that... We sweat like crazy with this thing! I've had to put a waterproof protector on it, which probably makes the breathability worse, but I didn't want to ruin the mattress. Like, we wake up DRENCHED. Even my 7 year old, when he sneaks into bed with us. This didn't happen with my previous mattress. I got this about a month before I moved and it was being stored in a box. I was worried about the instructions that said to take it out ASAP. But it fluffed up within about 6 hours and I had no issues with significant offgassing. It did have a bit of a smell for the first day, but after that, I didn't notice it anymore.

Amazing mattress I have had major back issues over the years and I very rarely get any of that type of issue anymore. I had a mattress that I bought from a store and it was around $3000.00 that she stole through our separation. But that's just a little fragment of the tip of the iceberg. So I needed a mattress and I purchased it. I thought worse case it could go in a spare room down the road etc. I would trade in my old mattress to have this mattress. It absolutely exceeded what my expectations where for the mattress and for the price. My mattress is the 14" queen and I would never look back, I love it! The box is heavy and awkward to move when you get it. Just follow the instructions and make sure you unroll it right away like they say to do. Dont listen to all these people about little complaints about the most minuscule feelings and thoughts on it. It's a firm mattress but still is extremely comfortable and has a plush feeling because of the pillowtop. I would think it's pretty much the best of both firm but still extremely comfortable, all around mattress. You could spend thousands on a mattress and hate it or have a ton of complaints about it. You have time to try it out and see how it works for your body and if it does not meet what you expected send it back. I bet you dont send it back.

This is a surprise for the cost! Shipped in a large box, weighs a reasonable amount and easy to bring inside and handle. Just make sure you expand the mattress on the same floor as you want to use it, as this thing is a beast at to move. The mattress itself isn't "soft" in a fluffy way, but forms to your body when weight is placed on it. Just laying my arm while sleeping leaves a bit of an inprint, so it's not as firm the weight and touch suggests. Temperature wise, this thing is great. I always had a problem sleeping hot and sweating, but this helps a ton and only get warm when I forget to turn the heat down at night. I bought the 14" and is much thicker than one would need, and paired with a box spring, it's quite tall. I would suggest either a thin box spring or slats as I have to climb into bed every night and slide off in the morning. I can't comment on durability, but the handles seem to be a little light duty and may not survive the life of the mattress when moving frequently. Seems like a solid product and the coil springs may extend the lifetime of the product and prevent sagging. Overall, I would recommend this product, beating out the more recognized brand names for 2/3 the cost.
