Remo Buffalo Drum - Black Earth, 16"

My 16" Remo Black Earth Buffalo Drum arrived and I am just delighted with it! It has a deep rich bass in the center and a nice variety of other timbres at the perimeters. Nice and sturdy construction and easy to hold and play. One swell drum!!!

I have a few drums. This is by far my favorite. It has such a very clear deep sound. For sound healing, I really want to feel the sound. This drum is the best for that. I even love it more than the bison hide drum that I made myself. I couldn't be happier with this drum.

Not my first hand drum, nor first Remo. This is a deeper tone drum and was given as a gift to a friend. Not an easy decision as I love this drum. My first Remo has higher tones, and I prefer it over the Elk Skin drum made years ago. Never have to worry about head drying out, or changes in temperatures. The beater is fine and fits well in a mans hand though can be modified for a womans. Fits in the 16" case and on airplanes. Do have to tighten the rope after a years' use. Suggestion, if you purchase this drum and plan on traveling consider buying an 18" case instead of the 16" as a lot can be packed in with the drum and beater!

I was a little hesitant to buy this drum. There are not really many videos I could find to see the quality and sound of the drum. I was going to get a handmade drum with an animal hide, but it was out of my price range. I saw a video on Gaia and the shaman was using this drum. I decided to look it up on Amazon and saw the price and the great reviews. The shaman did mention that it was good for high humidity areas. I live in the south and we are constantly humid especially in the summer. I was blown away with the quality and the sound of this drum! It is absolutely amazing and outstanding! The vibration off this drum really resonates, you can feel it within your body it's awesome! I would not hesitate to purchase this drum if anyone is thinking about it. It is made very well, and the quality is top-notch! I have already recommended it to friends and one of them has already made the purchase. If you want a great quality sounding drum, for a great price, this is it!

This drum has the richest and tight bass sound I've ever heard from only a 16 inch drum. Sounds like this kind of bass would be coming from a much bigger size drum. I had to return it because a black drum is not good for me to play in my pray room. I got the white 22 inch drum thinking it would be louder and more bass, but I was very disappointed when i heard it sounding very twanggy instead of the boom. The 22 inch white drum doe not produce bass, you literally hear twang twang instead of boom boom. I returned the 22 inch and got the 16 inch white drum, which sounds like twanggy but nothing like the tight solid base from the 16 inch black version. The black drum head is made from vinyl, and the white drum head is made from something they call fiber skin, which is complete garbage in my opinion for it to be on a drum that is meant for bass. I really don't have much time to write reviews, but I want to write this to let people know to get the right drum and it makes a whole big difference more than just picking the color you like of black or white. Remo, great job on the black drum, horrible idea on the fiber skin.
