GC91820 18-Inch/20-Inch Reel Lawn Mower Grass Catcher, Black

I got this to attach obviously to my rotary mower to help with clipping clean up. Sometimes I like to leave the clippings but when the grass has gotten too long I don’t want huge piles on the lawn. I got this to make my life easier and I’m not sure if it did. It’s not necessarily that it’s a bad product. It attaches somewhat easily (although there are more or less steps depending on what you’re attaching it to). The instructions are clear but unfortunately the way it sits the two biggest issues are: 1. The clippings often pile towards the front and don’t fill towards the back, meaning it starts leaving grass on the lawn before the basket is even “full”. 2. Building on the last point the overall volume of the basket is pretty low. So if you have very short grass already or a small area then this is no issue but if the grass is long or the area is large you will end up (like me) having to unhook and carry this to wherever you dump it 5,6,7 times or more. So between the constant uncoupling, carry, empty, re-clip I would honestly just stay in the groove and clip the whole lawn and then go back with a rake and clean up after. Bags work better on power motors bc they’re enclosed and the force pushes and packs the grass in. It’s just unfortunately something a rotary can’t replicate. So the product isn’t bad and it’s great for some uses, just not for me. So that’s why I think the product is a 5 star product even though I’m not feeling that great about how it helps me.

It's like this product was designed by an engineer who understood the theory of how these things function, without every actually testing it. It technically fits (though it's a dumb way of attaching it to the mower). But it doesn't really do its job. Grass either gets thrown over the side of the bag or it bunches up at the reel and blocks more grass from going in. I constantly have to reach down and shove the grass to the back to make space for more. Also, the bag is made of cheap materials. It's flimsy and the part at the bottom where the back metal brace attaches broke off after only a few uses. So now the bag doesn't stay propped open. It's almost more trouble to use this bag than just raking up the grass from the ground. I've used a reel mower with a grass-catcher bag that actually works, so I know it's possible. Save your money and don't buy this. Also, since it's the only bag available for this mower, don't buy the mower if you're planning on using it with a bag. I love the mower. It's a good product and does a great job. But it doesn't have a bag that works.

I used another reel mower/bag combo for a decade before the mower began to fall apart and then got a mower (which this bag should fit from the same company) free from someone who posted a barely-used one free on a neighborhood app. Technically, the bag fits the mower, and although the frame occasionally slips off the hooks while mowing, it does the job well enough. I have only had it one year and can't address durability yet, as my last one got 10+ years. I'm fairly handy, but the directions to assemble and attach were atrocious. There is a guy on that popular vdeo-sharing site that begins with a Y who has a GREAT video talking you through a slightly different process to assemble it with the correct end results.

Unfortunately not the greatest quality or design. The loop that holds the bag up ripped off after 3 uses, but I still manage to get use out of it even without the bar. It is a little tricky to remove the bag when time to empty, and ironically pops out randomly when I reverse. For context I use it with the earthwise 16 reel mower.

This item is easy to install and use. Few drawbacks- 1. It is made from flimsy material, the belt broke after a few uses. The return window had just closed 2. The plastic holders aren't strong enough to grab the mower. The catcher keeps coming off. 3. The base board bends with load causing more friction while mowing 4. It appears to be expensive ($30-$35) in reference to the quality of the material 5. There is no top net to hold the mulch inside (This is an after thought, seller never claimed it comes with the top).

I ordered this nonelectric push mower YEARS ago...I live in the country, so while I DO have a riding mower AND an electric self propelled mower, I STILL find myself whipping out this convenient mower to peacefully mow a basket full of greens to give to my chickens every day! The grass catcher works perfectly on my mower...The chickens are ALWAYS delighted when they see me carrying a catcher full of greens!! My mower and my grass catcher work very well and my mower has not shown any signs of rust! Great product!!

Fit perfectly

I bought this for my Scott’s 16” reel mower appeared to have the same frame. Fits perfectly. Easy to assemble and attach. It will pop off if you’re on uneven ground or hit a big enough bump but it’s fine.
