if you have some kind of rod to clean, this is what you need to use. Also gears and chains i suppose. I used for a 3d printer's rods.

It's a great idea, but you have to really twist them and the cassette snags the fibers. They do really get into the cassette, I just find my patience to wear thin with them.

Wer regelmäßig wartet oder neu einfetten möchte, kennt das Problem: Mit einem Tuch oder Pinsel kommt man oft nur oberflächlich an die Stangen – vor allem in engen Zwischenräumen oder an schwer erreichbaren Stellen. Die Gear Floss Fäden sind stabil, fusseln nicht und nehmen alten Schmutz, Staub oder Fett zuverlässig auf. Durch ihre Flexibilität lassen sie sich exakt entlang der Gewindegänge führen, ohne zu verkanten. So lässt sich auch festsitzender Dreck gezielt lösen. Besonders hilfreich ist das, bevor man neues Schmierfett (z. B. Super Lube) aufträgt – saubere Vorbereitung ist hier das A und O. These were used to clean a lead screw on a 3D printer and they work amazing. Don't bother with printing lead screw cleaners or messing with toothbrushes/cloths. Add a little isopropyl to a string, wrap it around the screw holding the ends tight and run the lead screw (I disconnected the gantry to avoid issues). Do a second run with a dry string and done!
