Looks cute and seems good for blocking gnats.
I purchased the regular size 1 gallon bag. In retrospect, I wish I had gotten the 1.5 cubic feet because I ended up needing more to cover the surface of about five pots.Originally, I was going to line the bottom of my citrus tree pot to improve drainage to deal with a fungus gnat infestation. Then I read about how lining the bottom of your pot doesn't actually help with drainage. Because the bottom of your soil mass will always retain water regardless of what's below it. So instead of adding gravel, I just removed excess soil. Then I decided to line the top of my plants to prevent fungus gnats or fruit flies from being able to nest in the soil surface.Back to the gravel:At first I thought I wanted the mini size, but it was not available for fast shipping, so I went with the regular. I was concerned it would not cover the top well enough to block the gnats, but after pouring it in, it looks like it will work really well. And I actually like the large size because it will be easier to remove later when I repot it.I also think that the gravel is cute. I think it improved the look of one of my pots that had a lot of exposed soil.Overall, I think this is a great alternative to gravel or sand. It seems like it may allow for more air flow. The best part about it is it doesn't weigh much. And of course, also finding a use for recycled plastic is great. I'm glad I found this product.

These are great!
If you want aeration without the weight of stones, this product is great, especially if you’re potting a plant without drainage. Also, I love the sustainability story. And it saves on potting soil And keeps your plant relatively lighter if you need to move it. I’ve bought this again and again. Obviously a lot goes in to growing a fiddly fig, but it did help me succeed here I think. And it’s been great with a number of different Indoor plants.

No surprises here, works like it is designed for. Provides adequate drainage for several plants.
Works well in a planter system I have, with resevoir below, then the smart gravel, charcoal and potting mediun. The stones are big enoug that they do not plug the holes in the resevoir system, and not so small that they fall into the water resevoir.

Useful, Lighter, and Good for the Environment
This really is a great product to replace gravel. I try to look for ways to make my lifestyle more sustainable, and when I fell upon this, I was excited to try it out in my garden. I use it in the bottom of my pots to help with drainage and make the pots lighter to move around. It has helped so much, especially with my mother who loves to move stuff around but has a bad back. My plants are looking beautiful so far, and I am excited for the spring and summer to try different ways of using this product. Useful and feels great to use recycled material in my gardening! Definitely will be buying more this season.

wonderful eco product
This product works well in many ways in gardens and pots. The best part is it is made in the usa from recycled multilayer plastic( packaging for chips, and many many other things) So if you care about not having plastic in the ocean, land fills etc. Get on board with this product.

Love so far
I love these so far. The fact that they come in large and small makes it easier to use the right ones for plant drainage. I will be using them this summer and putting them through a lot as they say that these can be reused. Let's see just how reusable they are.

Love these!
This smart gravel has been a great addition to my plant growing hobby. The large gravel is great for indoor pots with no drainage! I use the small gravel on the top of the dirt to discourage fungus gnats. The colors of the small gravel is pleasing to look at as well. This gravel is very lightweight which is good for not compacting soil and makes the pots lighter than alternative gravel. I am glad it's made out of recycled materials

Recycled
I do feel a little ridiculous for buying these instead of just using some rocks, but they are recycled and lightweight. My succulents thank them.
